Priscilla
PRISCILLA
I was lucky enough to witness Priscilla in a live setting and, let me tell
you, I was impressed. Her performance was, in a word, amazing. At the show
I caught, she was doing the solo thing. Now, I know there's some people who
aren't into the whole singer/songwriter thing because they find it boring.
They think that one person with an acoustic guitar can't be all that
entertaining. I'm sure there's a few musicians out there like that. But,
Priscilla isn't one of them. As soon as she got on stage, she was a ball of
energy. It was a magical experience. As she went through each song in her
set, most of which I really wasn't familiar with, it was like watching an
angel that was sent from Heaven above. Her music has the ability to touch
people and, by the reaction she got from the crowd, that's exactly what it
did.
Now, from what I understand, she's got a full band and I had made the
comment that if she's this good on her own, I can only imagine what she
would sound like with a band behind her. This one lady, can't seem to
remember her name, didn't seem to agree with me. Her comment was that
Priscilla didn't need a band because she was absolutely perfect on her own.
She also said that Priscilla's gonna be a major, major star...and I would
be quick to agree with that.
She's been playing since she was fourteen and she's been singing and
playing piano all her life. She grew up listening to artists such as Neil
Young and Pink Floyd and she admires the work of musicians like Jewel,
Sarah McLachlan and Ani DiFranco. It's these influences that helped create
her sound.
She currently has a four song CD available, which is really, really good.
It doesn't quite capture the energy I saw in her live performance. But, it
does showcase her songwriting ability and, let me tell you, you'd have to
be a fool not to enjoy her music.
If you haven't seen Priscilla in concert yet...then you haven't lived. I
promise you one thing, it's an experience that you won't soon forget.
