Spotlight - Ila
I've had this release for some time now and I should
have written about it long ago. But, when you're one
person trying to keep in touch with a million other people,
well, you tend to forget about a few people here and there.
But, I do my best to review everything that's sent my way...no
matter how long it may take.
Anyway, Ila is a band that contacted me through Degy Shop and,
wouldn't you know it, they're from Pennsylvania...Pittsburgh
to be exact. They released an album titled "As If Anybody Cared,"
which, at least the copy I recieved, was a demo CD. I had to
point that out because the production on here could've been a
lot better. But, since it's a demo, I can let it slide
because, well, because it's a demo.
Ila's musical style is, plain and simple, indie rock.
They've got twelve songs here that clock in at more
than an hour. I guess the highlight of the album is
track one, "Inflation Song," because, according to the
press material that came with the disc, they had over 1,000
downloads of their music on mp3.com and 400 of those
downloads were of that song. While that's a cool song,
there's so much more here to choose from and I think anyone
who would even consider checking these guys out, well,
you should sample a lot more of their music because
you'll find some pretty good stuff.
