Heat
Thursday night, I was walking to The Firehouse to catch a show and,
I was a block or two away when this small group came up to me,
gave me a CD and mentioned that they were performing at Dragonfly
on Friday night. I know there was a lot of CD's being handed
out at the MMC and I'm not sure if anyone else did their thing
on the streets of Harrisburg, but, that's how I came in contact with Heat.
Since we didn't have hotel money on Thursday night, we drove home
in the wee hours of the morning and, when I got home, I gave the
disc a listen. "Tru Playaz" was the title of the seven song CD
they gave me and I'd describe it as a combination of rap, hip hop,
soul and a lot of groove. The production was excellent and it was
a rather enjoyable release.
I had a lot of running around to do on Friday and I didn't
think I'd be able to make their show. But, somehow, I managed
to make it to Dragonfly to catch some of their performance and,
from what I remember, they were a high energy act. In fact,
I thought they had more energy live than they did on the album.
So, I assume they performed some material that I haven't heard.
They had the energy of a rock band and some of that energy
seemed sexual in nature, much to the delight of the ladies
that were in the house. I had to leave before they finished up,
but, from what I saw, I was impressed with. So, if you're into
this style of music, check 'em out. You'll like what you hear.
