Spotlight - "GIMMIE THE MEDICINE"
"GIMMIE THE MEDICINE"
Although the album's been out for some time now, there's some of you out
there who might not have heard about it and I feel it's my duty to tell you
about it. "Gimmie The Medicine" is a two disc compilation album that
features a total of 44 bands and, I don't care how hard you try, you're not
gonna find another album like this no matter how hard you try. At least not
in the Pennsylvania scene.
Let me tell you something...you know that old saying about getting what you
pay for? Well, in this case, you get a lot more for your money. First of
all, this is a totally professional release. Nothing shabby about the way
it was put together, the production, the packaging. It's a top quality
album in every sense of the word.
Let's take a look at the first disc. This one stands out for me because I
know some of the bands that were included and, yes, that would be the stuff
I drift towards first. Favorites from personal experience include
Anthrophobia's "3rd Degree Burn," Spinebelt's "It's All Running Out" and
Dead Leaves with "Heroine." Now, for the rest of this disc, there's a lot
of bands that I'm familiar with by name. But, I don't know them on a
personal level. In other words, I've never been in touch with them. As I
roll through the first 22 songs, there's a lot of good material to choose
from. To name a few...Lisa Christ Superstar's "Wreckage," 416 South's
"Second Class," Fatal Aggression's "Outcast" and E.N.V.Y. with "Hypocrite."
I was like a kid in a candy store when it came to the second disc. Twenty
two bands that were all new to me and for the next 76 minutes, I got to
taste a little bit of everything this area has to offer. Or, as it said in
the press release that I got, the bands are from all over the Northern East
Coast as well as the West Mid-Atlantic. Anyway, there's such a great wealth
of material on this album...so much to sink your teeth into. Select
favorites include Dead 50's with "Heck Of A Guy," The Afterglows with
"Anthem/Stop (Very Wrong)," Squatweiler's "My Number One," Choose Your Own
Adventure's "A Song About Boston" and Cloud Party's "Tears In Rain," which
happens to be the only band on this disc that I've been in touch with.
Bottom line...if you're into discovering new music, there's a lot to be
found on this release and there's really no reason why you can't add this
album to your collection. So, be sure to pick up a copy today and I promise
you...you won't be disappointed!
