Spotlight - .44 Mag

If straightforward metal is what you desire, you might wanna look into .44 Mag's five song release, "The Pain Of It All." The album starts off with "Disfigure," which might remind some of you of Metallica. The guitar crunch of "Tearing Within" comes at you next followed by the brooding heaviness of "Death Row," which picks up speed mid-song and then goes into some fantastic guitar work. "Violent Confrontation" seems to be the favored song off of this release. When I saw the band live, this was the one that people were waiting for and I would venture to say that this tune represents all that is good about .44 Mag. It's got a little bit of everything they're all about. The album ends with the headbangin' number, "Mishap." This one reminds me a bit of a more polished Venom. While metal is what .44 Mag is all about, their music comes off even heavier and more aggressive in a live setting. This disc will knock you around a bit. But, if you happen to catch them live, they'll take your head right off and ask questions later.
