"Maybe I'm Mayonnaise" is a four song EP with pop hooks & smart lyrics that leave you wanting more.
Tim Lott leads the band with his raw, yet clear voice. Lois Last adds a lively touch of B-52's
and her cheerful sound harmonizes wonderfully with Tim's contrasting vocals. The rest of the band
perfects their unique, 80's-style sound.
Shannon: "Whirlpool" introduces you to their rare style, telling the truth about the cruelties of the
world (hey, they live in New York). Behind all of the depth, there is a catchy chorus :)
Melanie: “Whirlpool” starts out with some great guitar sound which consistently reappears
throughout the song. The lyrics speak of the troubles of communication with that significant
other, or whom you wish was your significant other!
Shannon: "Only One" begins quietly and changes smoothly into a mellow, happier beat--yet it
tells the story of a dying relationship.
Melanie: “Only One” brought out Tim’s distinct voice, singing about those significant
others again! “And take me out of here. Tear me inside out. Cause I’m the only one.”
But don’t let that pause make you think the song is over, don’t applaud till it’s over!
Shannon: "Jack" starts off with a peculiar buzz that leads into an angrier sound. Towards the end,
Lois and Tim's voices go together amazingly. The song ends with a furious scream from Tim.
This is the type of song that will be stuck in your head for days.
Melanie: “Jack” is an angrier song than “Whirlpool” and “Only One,” but is the catchiest.
It starts off with the keyboard and once in the chorus, you are singing along, “I didn’t do it Jack,
and I want me, after you took all you could get, I didn’t do it Jack, and I want me.”
Tim unleashes his anger at the end with a yell. I’d be yelling too.
Shannon: Although "High" sounds like a drug addiction song, the song itself is truly addicting.
Once it ends, you find yourself searching for a hidden track of some sort...
Melanie: “High” (found on mp3.com) is a slower song about, well, you guessed it, being high.
But perforated head doesn’t glamorize it at all. It tells of how your true emotions are
better than being high.
Thank you very kindly to Perforated Head, for giving each of us a copy of their CD!
