Being Melanie’s second visit and Shannon’s first, we agree this is a good
venue for younger bands with an under 21 fan base. The lighting may not be
as colorful and sophisticated as the bars, but it is a welcoming venue.
If you have the urge to run around and push people in front of the stage,
not too many people have a problem with it.
Doors opened at 6:30 and Taxi 23 opened up the show. This gig
was the last gig for their bassist, who is friends with Melanie’s friend
Nate. Lorn, Kevin, and Jamie performed around six or seven of their
originals for the last time together. If you are a bassist and looking for a
band to join, Taxi 23 may have an opening for you!
One Up on Lucy came on next at about 7:50. They performed
next in their redneck get-up and bare feet. The stage is fully
carpeted so it must not have been too uncomfy. Not only were there
random plaid-wearing punk rockers jumping onto the stage, but the
band also decided to hand out some "night crawlers" aka
worms from a styrofoam cup to those bold enough to eat them in the
crowd. Surprisingly there were many willing to do so, but we
decided to take a rain check.
Darren, Mitch, Wes, and Josh of Grandview performed last.
Since we could not see the stage all too well and we were all
getting a bit sick of sitting, we hopped up to stand to the side
of the stage. Grandview were happily surprised at the crowd
that was in attendance and hung around to see their performance.
Being the headliners and having a good stage presence,
why would someone leave?
