The Martini Bros. at the Whitaker Center

Deuce, Mike, and Rej played at the Whitaker Center a year ago for the Hot August Night
with Darcie Miner and the Badlees. Okay, so it was August 11, 2000, but a few days
do not make much of a difference. This time the Martinis played with Delbert McClinton.
Sitting in the beautiful theater, the audience was composed of McClinton fans and we
were unsure of how much they would enjoy the Martinis.
The stage set up was different from the usual. Rej’s drum kit was set up
on far stage left instead of behind Deuce and Mike. It was due to
having two stage set-ups - McClinton’s and the Martinis - at once.
On stage right was a keyboard, which Deuce joked about and
said that their keyboard player did not show up.
Bopping in our seats and mouthing the words, those around us
could tell that we were fans. After the guys finished, the woman
beside Melanie commented that she enjoyed the band and liked
the bass player the most : ) After they finished, we were treated to
a special backstage visit to say hi and to tell them that it was our
"Martini Bros. one year anniversary." Hopefully there are
many more to come!
