Before Stephen Reso took the stage to do an acoustic performance,
he stopped by our table to say hello. He had on a vintage-looking blue
MTV t-shirt that we both wanted to steal. This was our second time
seeing Stephen perform. The first time was at Saturday’s MMC
Hilton stage. He took to the stage with a bandmate to perform his
original songs, including “Ordinary Life.” Recording is now finished
and Stephen will release his CD in the fall/winter of 2001. * Maybe it
is just us because we are short, but Stephen is one TALL guy! *
The Polins took over the stage next to perform songs such as “Fall Apart”
and “Finding Out” from their latest CD, “Lost Highway.” The Polins are Dave
Aufiero, Tony Melchiorre, Pete Aufiero, and John Fritchey. They have been
around since the early 90s and write quality songs that could use
some visual stimulation during live performances.
Performing last were the No Show Ponies. These guys
had some nutty fans there that night. Some dangerously d
ecided to go sans shoes onto the dance floor. We have two words for
that: “eww” and “ouch”…sticky beer and broken glass doesn't really
seem like a lovely walk on a sandy beach. Playing without a
set list to reference, Jeff, Ben, Jason, and Jordan pumped out
mostly original songs with some select covers thrown into the mix.
Ponies fans should be ready for their new, anticipated album
which will be released within the month.
