ArtsFest with Brave the Day and Echotown

We arrived to find a huge crowd flowing out behind the filled folding white chairs. We stood around in the crowd during Brave the Day, but could not really see them all too well. Tall people blocked the way for us short gals. Logan, Gwen, Alex and their mom saw us and came by to say hello. We chatted for a bit since we couldn’t see anyway.

After they left to go for a walk, Shannon was approached by a standerby. He had been there for about as long as we had and quietly spoke to Shannon so Melanie couldn’t hear. He asked what time it was, so Shannon stretched her arm out for him to read her watch. He gave her a confused/helpless look and said he couldn’t read her face watch since he was from France. * cough * yeah right * cough * So she looked at her watch and informed him of the time. The guy didn’t leave then. He asked her if he could talk to her on the side. She firmly told him no and she moved up a few steps to get away from him and move further into the crowd. Shannon decided then that we would most definitely find a seat somewhere to watch Echotown perform. Anywhere away from the time-boy.

While waiting for Brave the Day to finish their set, we inched our way up through the crowd to see the stage. Melanie spotted a bug on Shannon and hit her to get it off. Squealing after Melanie told Shannon it was a bug, we saw the bug land in the guy’s hair sitting in front of us. Then it jumped back on Shannon and we squealed again. Since it was on her purse, Shannon just shook that and the bug flew onto Melanie. When we got it off of Melanie, the bug finally disappeared. Whew!

As the crowd dispersed from the performance, we handed out some Pete Palladino fliers then sat our bums down to save some folding chairs for Shannon’s parents. When they arrived, we sat on the steps with Logan and the gang.

Echotown, is one of three offshoots from the Badlees and you can find Shannon’s review of it from the CD Jeff gave her on our site and Echotown’s. After they did the last performance for the ArtsFest, Ron gave Shannon a copy of the Cellarbirds CD for the both of us to review since Jim hadn’t sent along our copies yet. The Cellarbirds “Perfect Smile” review should be ready for the site soon.

One last funny story, when we got to the parking garage, we went in the door that said “fire exit only - alarm will sound.” Well, no alarm sounded but when we went up one floor to our car, the door would not open. So we all went back down and discovered the other door was locked also. For that moment we feared we were stuck inside. Fortunately there was another door around the corner that went out onto the sidewalk that opened right up. That was frightening.
