With about four hours of sleep each, we pulled into a parking spot and headed for the courtyard.
We were the first official payers of the day, since it was only around 9 and the bands wouldn't be
starting for an hour. Wandering around for a bit, we decided to ask a sound guy if there were any
plugs we could use for the video camera. Pointing by the stage and saying some technical sounding
words, he said we could plug in up there. Walking over, we checked to see if the camera cord would
allow Shannon to be plugged in and taping from the front of the stage. Nope. The cord was not long
enough, so we put the camera away. When the guy came by, he asked if we got it in okay. We told
him the cord was not long enough, but he offered us an extension cord! He gave us one a few minutes
later. The other Regal sound guy asked us if we needed another, but we told him we were good.
Thank you sound guys (like they'd read this)!! We both sat down for a while and chatted, and then
one of the sound guys (sorry for not knowing their names) came up to us and asked us about Julian
Fist since we both had our Julian Fist shirts on that we had bought the night before at Gullifty's.
He said that he was actually there the night before as well. We ended up talking to him later about how
nice the Julian Fist guys are. He asked us if we were friends with Mitch's girlfriend and Melanie said "no"
and Shannon thought he asked us if we were Mitch's girlfriends (lol) and she responded with something like,
"No! We're too young for him (even though he's not that old)! Pshh, we're just fans!" This confused
Melanie and the sound guy, and Shannon apologized for going crazy due to a lack of sleep. *insert
Shannon's embarrassment here*
More people were coming, and soon the music started. 33 RPMS took the stage and there was a bunch
of eye-rolling amongst the crowd. Their music and vocals didn't go too well together, and in the rare
occasion that they did have a nice beat going, they would suddenly go off and scream some more…it just
didn't seem to blend at all.
One guy was wearing a home-made designed 33RPMS tee. He wrote hugely in a thin black marker.
Not a professional or flattering tee. Another band that did not even audition to play came wearing
their better looking tees saying their band name and their part in the band.
Soon The Realm took the stage. There were some black, glittery Realm tees clothing the Stock goers.
They had wide variation of covers, and they sounded a lot better, musically. There was a nice mixture
and the keyboards were a cool addition. The vocals in this group were a lot better as well.
The jazzy, rockabilly, bluegrass group, Badd Fish were up next. There was a lot more movement in the
crowd during their set, so that's always a plus. They were very entertaining and their sound was put
together well. A lot of the guys of the crowd (including the singer at some points) were running into
each other and being psychotic loons, so that was amusing to watch.
During the break there were a few rappers doing their free-flowing thing, and then it was time for
Stuk to perform. Shannon whipped out the video camera to tape them, and Melanie did her
microphone-holding duty. Stuk added some professionalism to the day, by showing that their
originals could be just as good as the covers. "Touch your Ground" and "Prepare for Attack"
were just a few of their originals. We didn't know too much about the members of the previous
bands, but we did know who these lads were. Bill Houck is the lead singer, John Windish on guitars,
Gary Limoge also on guitars, as well as doing backing vocals, Jut Imes (dressed in his usual hooded
sweatshirt attire) on bass, and Rob Gallagher is the oh-so-tall drummer. There was a lot of movement
on stage (and off when the occasional member would hop into the audience), which definitely
entertained the crowd even more. They sounded great, and at the end of their set they gave away
copies of their Forging A Face EP demo. To find out more about these guys, go to

During the break, Melanie laid down on her bag to rest. Her friends Joanna and Brandon
came up behind her and scared her. Since it was kinda loud they went to the back to talk for
a bit. They just wanted to say hi. Then after a bit more rapping, Deviation Theory was up
next. These guys were also quite the professionals, and they definitely had a lot of fans in
the crowd as well. Once again the guys of the crowd had fun running into each other and
causing teachers to panic a wee bit. Not to mention our panicking. Shannon moved between
the bushes and the stage to tape without the fear of broken equipment. Joshua Lyter is the lead
singer, Teague Quinn is guitar and backing vocals, Tom Hand is bass and also backing vocals,
and the drummer is Brad Stackpole. We had seen these guys at Shakey's during MMC, but we
definitely enjoyed seeing them more this time around. Soon after they finished, they headed over
to LVC to do another show. Check out their website at

Once again we were provided with entertainment from the rappers, until one of them went against
the rules of no swearing, etc. and they were told to put down the microphones immediately.
Flophouse was next. Jonny Rich is the lead singer and guitarist, Ethan Geyer on bass and
backing vocals, and Brian Cartwright on drums. The band showed a large amount of energy
on stage, as a crowd of swooning girls gathered (don’t worry, there was no swooning done by us).
They later said in an interview that we did with them later on that they sound sort of like the Ataris
and NOFX. Find out more about them at
www.flophousesucks.com
After Flophouse’s set, we went to interview Stuk, minus one member (Gary). We were told
that Gary wanted to shower and nap. They were really cool lads who had no idea who we were
(except Jut). Then after interviewing Stuk, we interviewed Flophouse. Both bands were interesting
to learn more about. Melanie made both bands wink at the camera, which freaked Shannon out
because she is afraid of winking…don’t ask.
When we finished interviewing Flophouse, we headed back into the courtyard to catch a few
songs by Will Lynes and Andrew Jackson. They had a jam band thing going on, and there were
very few people who still "stuk" (hahaha…sorry) around to see the poor guys. As soon as their
set was over, Melanie got her hands on a free lemonade, and we headed home feeling exhausted
and sunburned.
