The Clarks

Alternate Routes
|

|
The Clarks
- The Clarks are an unprecedented rock phenomenon in their hometown of Pittsburgh,
where the rock 'n' roll quartet regularly performs for crowds of 8,000 or more and
where their last record outsold many of today's biggest music acts. With five studio
albums and countless live performances to their credit, The Clarks share the kind of
musical shorthand only a band of near-brothers can know. Their top-notch musicianship
and songwriting are clearly evident on their new CD, Another Happy Ending, the band's
second for Razor & Tie.
The Alternate Routes
- The Alternate Routes are a young, dynamic rock band from Connecticut
with a strong emphasis on timeless songwriting and storytelling. The band
recently released its debut album, Good and Reckless and True, which was
produced by noted Nashville producer Jay Joyce (Patty Griffin, Rubyhorse,
John Hiatt). While the new album is an impressive first statement highlighted
by well-crafted original songs, Warren's distinctive vocals, Donnelly’s memorable
song-oriented guitar work and Johnson’s propulsive bass, the stage is where the
band truly comes alive. As the Fairfield County Register wrote, "The Alternate
Routes are one of the few groups that tackle both writing and performing with
the same zeal, and have the talent to back it up. They play radio-friendly
rock with charismatic vocals, good changes and a solid beat." The band
is supporting the new album with a series of live shows, including musical
residencies in Boston, New York, Philadelphia and Washington D.C.

audiences wanting more. They are definitely a must see. Buds with the delightful Darcie Miner.
The Freddie Long Band
- Freddie Long has performed in solo, duo, and full band formats at hundreds of
shows in the Mid-Atlantic region, sharing bills with well-known national and
regional acts such as the Kelly Bell Band, Boogiehawg, Darcie Miner, and Steve
Smith of Journey. The Freddie Long Band includes some of the best musicians
in the area with Randy Mazzi on bass guitar, Ken Deater on drums, and Chris
Bell on lead guitars. The Patriot-News in Harrisburg, PA, said it best:
“Freddie Long’s ballad ‘It’s Only Just Begun’ has become his mantra.”

Francis Dunnery and David Sancious
|

|

|
Francis Dunnery and David Sancious
- "The onetime frontman of the progressive rock group It Bites,
singer/songwriter Francis Dunnery was born on Christmas Day, 1962
in Egremont, Cumbria, U.K. His tenure with It Bites began in 1984,
and after three LPs concluded in 1990; during that time Dunnery
invented the Tapboard, a unique guitar-like instrument fitted with
such odd accessories as a shower hose and an egg timer. Turning
towards a more conventional pop sound, he issued his first solo
album, Welcome to the Wild Country, in 1991, and in 1993 played
guitar in Robert Plant's touring band; his first Atlantic effort,
Fearless, followed a year later. After 1995's Fearless, Dunnery
issued a live effort titled One Night in Sauchiehall Street; upon
leaving Atlantic, he signed with Razor and Tie to release Let's Go
Do What Happens in 1998. A follower of astrology and metaphysics,
he also wrote "MusicScopes," a weekly horoscope column for
Billboard magazine."

The Luv Gods
- We started playing way back in 2003. For those of you that can't count,
thats a few years ago. We're all veteran players. Some of us even know each other.
We're having fun playing, entertaining you and earning every cover charge. In return
you entertain us by smiling, dancing and keeping most of your body parts in your clothes.
There's some things we tolerate, like telling us what to play. Then there's some things we
won't tolerate, like telling us how to play it. We'll take care of that end.

Lake Trout
|

Bravetheday
|

Bo Bim
|
Lake Trout
- Good luck trying to pigeonhole Lake Trout. As intent as the music press is
to affix labels, this band's music truly resists categorization. On the band's
new Rx/Palm label debut, Another One Lost, this accomplished songwriting fivesome
mine wholly uncharted terrain. The album's rock experimentalism will quite naturally
elicit comparisons to The Talking Heads, The Pixies, Pink Floyd, and Sonic Youth.
But the live drums somehow manage to evoke both John Bonham's thunder and Aphex Twin's
drum machine. Elsewhere moody atmospherics will recall Amon Tobin, Kool Keith, and
DJ shadow. While the groups sonic explorations bring to mind Steve Reich and Brian Eno.
Their live shows are legendary and have helped the band develop a diverse fanbase,
which is why established acts as disparate as Queens of the Stone Age, Amon Tobin,
Live, The Dismemberment Plan, Ben Harper, Soul Coughing, Cursive and many
others have all shared their stage with Lake Trout.
Bravetheday
- "Possessing astounding vocals, swirls of guitars and gorgeous songwriting, bravetheday
painstakingly crafts their music to deliver messages that are irresistibly simple,
while at the same time being unpretentiously profound." Originating out of Harrisburg, PA,
and now relocated to Philadelphia, bravetheday was formed in 1998 by the songwriting
team of Josh Kesler and vocalist Rebecca Miller. The current lineup of the band is
rounded out by ex-Modus drummer Patrick Garrity and veteran L.A. bassist Ian Boccio.
The band has extensive live performance experience, having played shows in and around
Harrisburg, Philadelphia and New York, opening for larger name artists like Jonatha Brooke,
Dar Williams, Grey Eye Glances and Michelle Branch, and performing live on WXPN. Songs by
bravetheday are also on regular rotation on XMUnsigned and WBZC's ClassicFM
Bo Bim
- An amazing new indie/rock/garage band. They site The Ramones, Dandy Warhols,
Queens of the Stone Age, John Frusciante, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Sleater-Kinney, Bob Dylan,
Weezer, The Beatles, Iggy Pop and the Stooges, The Pixies, Television, Tears for Fears,
Refused as influences. I hear a little Mudhoney, a little Velvet Monkeys / Don Fleming
vocals in one of the songs. Really great stuff. They're taking off like a rocket right
now. "a band with buzz ... Bo Bim clearly has insight bordering on the visionary there." -
John Train, PA Musician, March 2005. "Bo Bim plays hopscotch across a laundry list of rock
influences, taking leaps and bounds that sometimes land in polished alt-rock and other times
in the low-fi indie realm. The band’s debut album, Go. Get. Got., to be released this summer,
boasts 15 dynamic tracks that romp about with ribald rock curiosity." - Fly Magazine

Lotus Blue
- Lotus Blue is a rock quartet from deep in the heart of central Pennsylvania.
While being compared to Jimmy Eat World, Chevelle and Filter, each member has an
individual style that adds to a new original creation of rock madness. All members
have been performing for years in various other bands (Mad Revere, Reno Fontaine,
Rats from the Bay) and have finally joined forces to form the culmination of
everything that rocks, known as Lotus Blue. Experience true blue.
The Thrives
- The Thrives can best be described as an indy-power-pop trio clearly
influenced by the music of the 80’s and 90’s. The three members, David Kemper,
John Bolling and Brad Stackpole started playing together back in 1995 in a band
only slightly known in the Harrisburg area called Lunarshade. After a few years
of other projects or lack there-of, they have become musically reacquainted.
Kemper as singer, song writer and rythm guitar player understands the power of
a pithy word simply attached to a catchy melody. His visual descriptions of love
and relationship are earthy, sensual, unique and somehow universal. Listen for
the dynamic juxtoposition between sweet melodies wrapped around yearning lyrics
and breakthrough declarations of tongue-in-cheek-angst-ridden-imperfection.
John Bolling's relaxed and consistent bass playing is backed up by years of
listening to the great bands from across the pond. Fans have learned to watch
for his sheepish smile as he gets wrapped up in the joy of performing. Finally,
there is the famous Brad Stackpole on drums. He has sat in with quite a few local
groups from Deviation Theory to his recent project with A Utopian Skyline (formerly
The Midnight Drive), along with his valued participation with The Thrives. Brad’s
influences are the most diverse of the group. He is more than accomplished at
playing Latin, Jazz, Rock and Metal in addition to other styles.
Blue Corduroy
- With their original mix of electronica, funk/jazz, and rock this band keeps
you on the edge of your ears. Influences such as Medeski, Martin, and Wood,
The Red Hot Chili Peppers, Portishead, Susanne Vega, Radiohead, and PJ Harvey
make for an interesting blend of styles and textures.

Bridges and a Bottle
- Exploding out of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, Bridges and a Bottle have added an
exciting new sound to the region’s music scene with their soulful singing,
introspective lyrics, and rock-out live performances. With their self-titled
independent release, Bridges and a Bottle create deeply moving and uniquely
captivating rock music with an edge. With a talent to create hit songs, the
band also knows how to deliver diverse sounds from smooth ballads to raw
energy with extraordinary depth.
Lotus Blue

Tim Wright
- Having just released his debut solo album, "Books I Haven't Read," Tim Wright
is gearing up for a trip down the long road ahead of him. It's a road that many
travel, but few reach their destination: a road known as the music business... Hailing
from Emporium, PA, a quaint, little town hidden in the mountains of North central Pennsylvania,
Tim spent the last year (Sept. 2004- Sept. 2005) in Hollywood, CA writing and recording his
new album. He cut his “musical” teeth playing in several rock and punk bands during his
early teen years, and regularly playing worship and Gospel music at his local church.
“My music is 100% passion. This probably comes from years of playing punk rock, loving
the blues, and listening to Gospel music since the day I was born. Throw all those in
a blender, and out comes something interesting, crazy, and full of soul…something like
me,” says Tim. Through a pure heart and a desire to change people’s lives through his
music, this man is on a fast track to success. Tim Wright proves to be an artist whose
music grabs the soul of the listener and takes them on a journey. If this is Tim Wright
now, the future should be very interesting!
