Lake Trout
|

The Underwater
|
|
Lake Trout
- Good luck trying to pigeonhole Lake Trout. As intent as the music press
is to affix labels, this band's music truly resists categorization.
On the band's new Rx/Palm label debut, Another One Lost, this
accomplished songwriting fivesome mine wholly uncharted terrain.
The album's rock experimentalism will quite naturally elicit
comparisons to The Talking Heads, The Pixies, Pink Floyd, and
Sonic Youth. But the live drums somehow manage to evoke both
John Bonham's thunder and Aphex Twin's drum machine. Elsewhere
moody atmospherics will recall Amon Tobin, Kool Keith, and DJ
shadow. While the groups sonic explorations bring to mind
Steve Reich and Brian Eno. Their live shows are legendary
and have helped the band develop a diverse fanbase, which
is why established acts as disparate as Queens of the Stone Age,
Amon Tobin, Live, The Dismemberment Plan, Ben Harper, Soul Coughing,
Cursive and many others have all shared their stage with Lake Trout.
A Gullifty's favorite. The played here in May, and they were amazing. jl
The Underwater
- Absolutely fantastic band from York/Harrisburg, PA. Compared to Muse,
The Juliana Theory, Placebo, Cave-In, Foo Fighters, Filter,
Hoobastank, Thrice. Emotional, melodic guitar rock. "THE UNDERWATER
could easily become one of rock's brightest stars as "Bleed Me Blue"
contains some exceptional moments." Smother.net Yup, they should be
huge, massive. Catch em here while you still can.
:-) see this show.

Condition K

Oddzar
|

Still Small Voice
|
Condition K
- Central Pa's modern rock foursome, Condition K, provide a
brilliant combination of contemplative lyrics, captivating vocals
and unmatched musicianship. Founded in 2003, Condition K was
assembled by members of some of Pennsylvania's most influential
bands (Julian Fist, 3Star, Stereo Logic). The band made an
immediate impact and quickly became a force in today's Mid-Atlantic
rock scene. The band's main influences range from classic rock bands
such as The Doors and Led Zeppelin to the modern rock sounds of bands
such as Stone Temple Pilots and Fuel.
Oddzar
- Someone once told Oddzar that their set-closer "Reborn"
reminded them of Russia after World War II: beat to shit,
totally triumphant, and dangerous. "Our music emanates auras
of frustration, angst, beauty, sadness, disgust, hope, confusion,
anger and sometimes all of those things simultaneously," explains
singer Russ Eckell. “And whatever the message," he continues,
“it must be very, very intense.”
On DCide Records, with numerous national tours under their belt.
Still Small Voice
- Rock and roll... plain and simple. The emotion, the energy and the urgency.
Forming in 2001, Still Small Voice quickly established themselves as one
of Pittsburgh’s best kept secrets with a stunning combination of
extraordinary musicianship, brilliant songwriting and blistering
performances. They have had the distinct pleasure of sharing the
stage with such notable national recording artists like Our Lady
Peace and Aerosmith. In 2003, Still Small Voice were the
Pittsburgh winners of the Rolling Rock Road to the Towne Fair.
With their debut album, “Today We Are Broken” nearing completion,
the band is gearing up to spread the gospel of sex,
drugs and Still Small Voice to audiences everywhere.

Soveren

Worlds End
|
Whiskey Business
|
Soveren
- Longtime heroes of the York active rock scene, Soveren somewhat recently
reformed after a hiatus. First time back at Gullifty's in a while, let's keep
that stickering in check ;-)
Worlds End
- Worlds End is an original hard rock-metal band based in York, PA.
The band started in 1998 under the name SEE YOU AUNTIE. Since then,
brothers Mike and Ryan Brambilla have worked with numerous musicians
and played many of the area's local and regional clubs. After 4 years
and over 300 live shows, they took a break to write some new music...
and now they're back. Teaming up with Marshall Deasy of Stress Free
Studios they managed to record their music short of a full band.
The new CD by Worlds End is powerful and inspiring, and is sure
to make an impact on the music industry today!
Whiskey Business
- Scott Keck's (ex Guitar tech of Martini Bros, ex Scott Keck Band,
ex Courtyard) band. You know Scott Keck. Will draw 60+, it's said.
You will know many of those people. Therefore, fun.

Jerry Joseph (solo)
|

Dann O. of Hexbelt
|
|
Jerry Joseph
- Jerry Joseph & The Jackmormons integrate excitement
and expressiveness, thoughtfulness and thrust, poetry
and pure power. The varying material from Mouthful of
Copper ranges from: the hard driving and deep lyrical
content of "The Jump", the radio friendly "I Know There's
a Darkness", the Americana soundscape of "Thistle", the
bouncy reggae of "Electra Glide in Blue" (incidentally,
written before Robert Blake was arrested), the punk rock
aggressiveness of "Bright Young Thing", the towering ferocity
of "Climb to Safety" where Joseph recounts the facets of
heroin addiction, the tender "Tanker" where the singer
compares a fading love to a Japanese tanker sinking, the
fury and passion of "Soda Man", the sensitive pop of "She's
Going Out" that explodes into a bombastic guitar exploration,
to the classic rock epic of "Savage Garden", and "Hallelujah
Trail", the beautiful set closer.
Dann O. of Hexbelt
- Hexbelt has the ability to cut across political, social,
and economic boundaries to reach the masses. A peer in a crowd
at a Hexbelt show would reveal a cross section of society, with
baby boomers, neo-hippies, punks, blue collars, yuppies and the
like; all jamming together as one. Hexbelt truly is a unique band
in an age of increasingly generic modern music.

Bravetheday

Frog Holler
|
|
Bravetheday
- "Possessing astounding vocals, swirls of guitars and gorgeous
songwriting, bravetheday painstakingly crafts their music to deliver
messages that are irresistibly simple, while at the same time being
unpretentiously profound." Originating out of Harrisburg, PA, and now
relocated to Philadelphia, bravetheday was formed in 1998 by
the songwriting team of Josh Kesler and vocalist Rebecca Miller.
The current lineup of the band is rounded out by ex-Modus drummer
Patrick Garrity and veteran L.A. bassist Ian Boccio.

are also on regular rotation on XMUnsigned and WBZC's ClassicFM
Tonight is a CD Release Party.
Frog Holler
- "put stringed instruments in their hands and they bare their souls as
if it's their last night on earth", extolled No Depression magazine
of frogholler in 2001 after the release of the band's third record,
Idiots. Idiots debuted on the Americana Charts at #34 and the band
was subsequently featured in The Philadelphia Inquirer,
The Washington Post, and on NPR's news magazine, "Here & Now".
A tour of The Netherlands followed, while back in the States
the band was gaining a reputation as a "live act to be reckoned with."

RAQ
|

Darcie Miner
|
|
RAQ
- RAQ has amassed a large and loyal following in a short amount of time,
strictly on the basis of word of mouth and dazzling festival performances.
In just its first national tour in 2002, the quartet played in front of
thousands at many of North America's highest profile events including the
Tennessee's Bonnaroo Music Festival, California's High Sierra Music Festival,
Florida's Langerado Music Festival, New York's moe.down, Massachusett's
Berkshire Mountain Music Festival, and Vermont's Garden of Eden festival.
The band has also appeared at prestigious venues such as the Great American
Music Hall in San Francisco and the famed Knitting Factory in New York City.

performing in front of sold out crowds in Telluride, Denver and Breckenridge.
Darcie Miner
- Influential Philadelphia station WXPN named Darcie one of its Artists to Watch in 2003.
Darcie and her band made history by performing on MTV’s Advance Warning as the first
unsigned act ever to play in prime-time on the channel. Darcie also made an
appearance on the new Star Search, hosted by Arsenio Hall, where she finished second
in a controversial decision. The Darcie Miner Band logged in a hectic touring
schedule which saw them build a strong regional following along the Atlantic
seaboard, opening for the likes of Edwin McCain, Patty Griffin, Heart, Richard Thompson,
Jeffrey Gaines, Wyclef Jean, Beth Hart and Jeffrey Gaines. The delightful Darcie
is a Gullifty's favorite.
